Marathon High: Provides high quality run training and character building curriculum to low income Austin area youth with a big goal to complete the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon.

Marathon High is a six-month training program starting in September to the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon in February. Students train at their schools two times a week with their coaches focusing on form, stamina and speed. On Saturdays all students come together at Rogue Running for a long run.Our training program is a completion-based program. Coaches train students to be able to finish the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon. In three years only 3 students out of 263 finishers have not finished the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon accounting for a 99% completion rate.

Through participating in Marathon High students will be taught to:

  • Establish healthy eating and exercise habits with an emphasis upon making the most of their situation.
  • Develop the intangibles that lead to academic success
  • Foster social responsibility and strong community members
  • Develop optimism, both internally and externally
